I took the flu shot this past season, and today I'm the only one in
the household not down with a bad cold. Not sure if it's related, but
it would make sense to try to protect the kids next time around. I
can't find info on why this might NOT be a good idea, so if anyone can
point me to some I'd appreciate it. I'd like to learn both sides of
the matter first. My kids are now six months and 19 months old.
The only thing I know is you shouldn't get it if you're allergic to eggs.
That's incorrect. People who are allergic to eggs should talk to their doctors and let them know they are allergic to eggs before getting vaccinated (there are actually two vaccines, one that is given nasally and one that is a shot).
Aren't the OP's kids too young for the nasal spray? I
don't think it's recommended for children under 5 years old.
Best wishes,
Ericka
You're correct, there is an age cutoff for the nasal spray. Obviously, the prescribing doctor would know this and be able to make the proper recommendation for the particular person.
I was commenting in general about flu vaccines in general, and not to the OP's situation.
