The boy who plays rough, probbaly does so because his parents beat him.
This is an unlikely explanation. Every child I know loves rough play
as long as it stays *play* and does not move into fighting. We never
spanked either my son or my daughter (now grown), but ds loved to
wrestle around with his friends and to *play fight.* He would never
have hurt anyone and got upset if his friends were bruised or bumped
in the process.
