Re: Lump on knee

#1 has a lump on her knee. It's quite obvious when her knee is bent, but not
visable when it's straight. It's in the lower half, and about 10mm wide, and
is soft when you feel it.
It looks a bit like a ganglian (sp?).
She's had it a bit. I noticed it some time ago, then forgot about it and
when I saw it again, I thought it looked a bit smaller than I remembered.
I've checked it again and thought it looks larger again (although this may
be angle I'm looking at or misremembering) although there isn't much in it.
As far as I know she hasn't bumped it nor is it painful according to her,
but I'm not sure she'd tell me if it was as she doesn't want to see the
doctor.
Any suggestions?
Debbie

I don't know what she has and perhaps a medical doctor
would be the best to figure it out. Possibly a chiropractor
or some other health care practictioner (sports injury
expert?) might be able to figure it out.

However, I'll just mention that for some knee injuries,
it helps to (gently) stretch the leg muscles regularly.
Muscles that are not stretched may get stiff and then
pull harder on the joint. A good time to stretch is
right after hard exercise -- otherwise the muscles
tend to get stiff after exercise.

I have the impression that young kids don't seem to
need to stretch muscles. I don't know whether this is
true or not, or if so why: maybe they tend to move
around a lot in a lot of different ways so their
muscles naturally get stretched.

If it's cancer: see "Cancer and Vitamin C" by
Linus Pauling and Ewan Cameron, or the chapter on
cancer in Linus Pauling's "How to Live Longer and
Feel Better". People with cancer are able to
absorb much larger amounts of vitamin C than normal
healthy people, and it's good to take these
large amounts, otherwise the level of vitamin C
in the blood falls very low. The immune system
uses up large amounts of vitamin C to fight the
cancer, and does it better if the right amount of
vitamin C is available. Avoid sudden increases
or decreases in daily amount consumed.
