Next year my son will be in Year 5 and his form teacher will again
change.
The new form teacher is ... well, let's not beat about the bush ...
clinically obese. Morbidly so. What's more, from what I've heard from
other parents, she drinks can after can after can of sugary fizzy
drinks all through class.
Personally, I'd be wondering if what I'd "heard from other parents"
was accurate, and if the teacher had on occasion drunk "can after can"
whether she did that all year round, or just in the summer.
I've seen the waste bin in the class. It's 24-7-365 excluding holidays.
through the trash can of a teacher who is not even currently teaching
your son? (I cannot imagine how else you would be aware of the
contents of her trash can on a daily basis.) Have you also followed
her to the restroom to evaluate whether she washes her hands to your
satisfaction?
Teachers get to do lots of things that their students are not permitted
to do. They get to talk without raising their hands. They get to
leave the room without asking permission. If the school has a uniform,
the teachers generally don't have to wear it. At One's school, the
kids need special permission from the vice principal to bring in their
own lunches; otherwise, they have to eat what the lunchroom provides
(and yes, it provides a salad bar every day, no soda, and juice only on
days when milk is unavailable for kashrut reasons). I'm guessing that
the teachers are allowed to bring in lunch if they prefer to do so.
And sometimes, teachers get to drink soda or coffee when the kids
don't. Kids understand that.
Your best bet? Keep your mouth shut. Your posts already show
tremendous animosity towards this woman based on her weight and choice
of beverages rather than her ability to teach your child. You're
likely to be in for a lousy year for no good reason if your kid picks
up on this and follows suit.
