Things that are taken away often take on a higher value, so taking away a
bedtime story can very effective and can make the stories something the
child actually wants more than he normally would (unless he just does not
like them at all).
I fully agree. Taking away a bedtime story when the child doesn't listen to
get things ready for school or bed is a good way to get my youngest to do
the things she needs to. She values the story so I do use that as leverage.
