I'm looking for crafts/hobbies/activities that will keep my 10 year-oldson
busy. He loves construction activities (Lego, Knex, etc), and once spent
days making a model railway from matches. Woodwork is a possibility; links
for age-appropriate projects would be appreciated. I also thought he might
enjoy making those 70's spider-web pictures from string & nails (no idea
what to call them, so can't google for instructions).
Any suggestions will be welcome.
Having a ten year old son I can grok to your question. The string art
might be something, but I'd suggest following his lead and helping him
explore things that tend to grow out of his current interests. With our son
I have learned that manual dexterity development and imagination are the key
factors in determining what [and if] he will be interested in. He also
really gets into Lego's [can we say bionicles!] but has recently developed
an interest in 'fancy lettering'. So, some inexpensive supplies to let him
explore that are in order atm. If your DS is like most ten year olds,
expect him to wax and wane in the enthusiasm dept quickly, so don't pour
lots of time and money into things he may only enjoy and pursue for a short
week or month. Oh, one thing you did not mention is models. Perhaps your
DS would be of an age to be interested in making some of the snap together
types, but they would be made in an hour or so......
