You could always skip the sippy cup phase altogether and see how she
does on regular (very small) cups. My ds never really 'caught on' to
sippy cups, he couldn't figure out that you had to suck to get it out
of the valved cups, and he had too much fun shaking the unvalved ones
upside down to drink anything. Just put in tiny tiny sips at first and
keep it out of her reach until she gets the hang of picking the cup and
setting it down without spilling. I don't remember what age he was when
he was reliable with this, but I do know he was off his bottles by 14
months or so. He does use unvalved sippys now when we're in a non-cup
situation, like in the car.
