When I was growing up we used a toaster oven, as my mom was very resistent
to the idea of microwave ovens, like you. Personally, I didn't like it much.
You could re-heat a piece of pizza in it or bake tatar tots in it. If you
had anything big to put in it, one couldn't do it. I never could bake a
potato in it, as it took way too long. The microwave will cook a potato in
about 10 minutes or less depending on the size, that seems more
cost-effective to me rather than using the oven. I'm not sure what your beef
is about microwave ovens, but IMO that would be more cost effective. I don't
know how much it is to run the oven, but I do remember with my cost-cutting,
very frugal mother, that she didn't want us to use it for extremely small
things.
