I was just talking to my sister about this yesterday. My Dad is hardly
what I would call a paragon of functionality -- but given how horribly
dysfunctional most of his family is, it's pretty amazing that he's in as
good shape as he is! I often wonder how he managed to turn out so close
to mentally healthy. My upbringing had it's challenges -- he was fairly
abusive -- but he did about the best he could, and fundamentally he's a
decent guy whose company I enjoy.
