To the OP. There have been people right on this group (or one of the mk
groups) that say they put their already trained 4 and 5yo's in pull-ups for
long trips in the car or on a plane. While I understand that this had a
dramatic impact for you I would be careful about extrapolating ill intent
onto your dad. Lots of 4yo's wet their pants if they can't get to a
bathroom right away. Both of mine have. I chose not to put them in diapers
but I've had to pull over on the side of the road so they could pee in the
ditch many times, and if I couldn't pull over for some reason, they peed
their pants. It could easily have just been the easiest solution to him and
he didn't have any inkling at all it was going to cause emotional trauma for
years to come. Now if you went a full year and didn't wet your pants once
on that bus I do find it a bit odd to keep putting diapers on you, if for no
other reason then the hassle and the expense, but that doesn't mean you dad
had any sort of low opinion of your intelligence. It was likely just an
easy answer to the dilema of having a 4yo with a tiny bladder trapped on a
bus. He made a mistake and unfortunately you have to deal with that
mistake. Don't compound your problems by speculating negative things about
his reasoning when it was most likely innocent.
