That Iraqi chemical engineer on 60 minutes, why in hell
didn't they lie detection him

There are various ways to determine if a person is probably
bullshitting or not

An so-called "lie detectors" don't work.

Serious studies of polygraph testing shows they aren't quite
as accurate as flipping a coin.  Worse, they aren't actual as fair
as flipping a coin.  There is a real bias in the results.  A
innocent guy telling the truth is more likely to be judged as
lying than a guilty guy who is lying.

This isn't all that surprsing:
1) The polygraph operator is rewarded more for "detecting" a lie
    than for not finding anything.
2) The polygraph essentially measures how nervous and upset someone
is.  An innocent guy accused of something is going to be
nervous and upset just by the circumstances, the guilty
crook knows the drill, and is practised at his lies.

Yeah, a sociopath/psychopath <person having relatively little
conscience> will especially pass a polygraph

Alegedly: A tack in shoe, a tranquilizer supposedly can beat 'em,

Sodium pentathol, "truth serum"

Supposedly facial cues, eyes, voice can be giveaway

So: If I were the deciding investigatior

ALL the above.

Yeah: The various detecting tools are not foolproof

Using all of them would be a pretty good clueclue
