Please note: The company's gross margins went up from 7.1 percent in
the third quarter to 11.9 percent in the fourth quarter.
please ALSO NOTE:
Evergreen solar booked $69.8 million in losses and impairment charges from
Evergreen Solar?s stake in Sovello AG, a German maker of solar-power
products that use Evergreen?s solar-cell manufacturing technology. The
company disclosed last week its ownership stake could be at risk if the
European Commission rescinds a $16.2 million grant to the company. Sovello
has been in default of loan covenants since 2008.
The Sovello charges contributed to a $98.1 million net loss for Evergreen
Solar compared with a $58.3 million net loss a year ago.
