TSN looks interesting to me.  However, I don't think there is any need to be
in a rush.  They are increasing prices on some products which should help
for next Q.  However, it could reduce sales and/or could yet not be enough
to cover the still increasing grain costs.  They gave little details on the
China venture or I missed them.  I expect there will be a lot of startup
costs for this before it becomes profitable.  My main strategy is similar to
yours, except I also like large dividends.  I have never used this strategy
except for the Canadian oil trusts, but this market is currently the most
challenging that I can recall.  I am positive for the year, especially for
the extremely beaten up financial sector.

Tyson Food (TSN) looks pretty good YHGG.PK sounds interesting. But I am
trying to stick to proven companies at deep discount in this market

most are stocks i follow.
AFCE-popeyes chicken.going for a little over 8.50 lst time i checked.
getting near 1900 units opened....they are a 20 dollar stock a year or
so from now.
E-TRADE  about 5 dollars a share-great brand name. could hit 12 to 15 a
year from now.
TSN-tyson foods. just signed a big deal with china and they are the
number one meat producer in the world i believe. with the world
population exploding, it is just a matter of time before tyson hits 40
dollars a share. they are trading in the 13 to 14 dollar range right
now.
COT-they make the generic soda pop you see at the grocery stores.
generic food stocks have gone up and i think this may follow, but be very
carefull with this one.
YHGG.PK- big chinese chemical, machine and food company. building
methanol plants in china. picked by chinese government to "green the
desert" in china.
they are trading for 1.30 a share and although risky, could provide
magnificent returns.
TRST-trustco bank. trading around 9.50, they pay a good dividend and
should easily hit 11.50  sometime in the next year because of the
interest rate cuts. for the past ten years they have traded in the 9 to
15 dollar range . a very stable stock.
two "short prospects short term; ADM and MONarcher daniels and monsanto.
i own both in drip accounts but both are a little overpriced right now
in my opinion.

Jerry... the canroy's, when most popular, that they could grow their
business, unlike U.S. trusts that eventually close up shop. In the
U.S. i still like BPT, BP Prudhoe Bay is still a very good one for a
long, imho. The operations and safety of the distribution is more
important to me, than how the price fluctuates. With the Canadians,
that the tax situation is finally more stable and reasonable, it could
be a good time to invest in these. Several of the following, i first
bought as stocks, then they became trusts. And some of these have
U.S. trading symbols too. The list begins with those that i invested
in first: BNP.UN.TO, BTE.UN.TO, AET.UN.TO, PMT.UN.TO, VET.UN.TO,
COS.UN.TO (cos was a combination of 2 companies), ZAR.UN.TO, PWE.TO,
CPG.UN.TO, HTE.UN.TO and PEY.UN.TO.
