Thanks for sharing. You have given me some "stuff" to look at. I suspect you are correct in increasing foreign allocation. I reduced mine due to the volatility, but I likely would have been ahead by not making the move.
Good Luck

I include a large cash position (20%) in the calculation. My benchmark is the S&P 500 and thus when I beat this, I'm happy. My asset allocation is Domestic stocks 67%, foreign stocks 9%, Bonds 1%, commodities 3%, and cash 20%. The equity style would likely be considered a balance between Growth and Value.
I guess your DNDN play helped your gain out recently? Congrats on that.
I did 1 percent for Q so about S&P 500 TR performance including 10 percent cash position. I am kind of new to this game although been in mutual funds for over 12 years. No one warned me about earnings season! Was way overweight on small caps and got punished by too many after earnings. Big Lots (BIG) saved the day for us recently. ;-) Also NTY going up 7 percent on rumors of a sale helped also. Sold off some of the small caps on the last little upturn we had. Which was good as they went down after that.
AMAGX Large growth fund 11%
SWPIX S&P 500 Index fund 11%
JAOSX Large growth Foreign 13.5%
US Treas Strip Bonds 13.25% (they are maturing soon so like cash)
Cash 10%
Foreign Emerging Market ETF's 4%
REITS 4.25%
Large Cap Domestic Stocks 15.5%
NVO Large Cap Foreign Stock 1%
Small Cap Domestic Stocks 16.5%
Bought the REITS at too close to their peak so got punished by those also. ;-) Think I am going to put more into the foreign markets from here if can find good deals. Been thinking about REITS that have foreign holdings. The foreign ETF's I have are DLS, EWS, EWW, FXI, and VWO. If this market gets crankin' again, I might sell off SWPIX and just try to buy the best of some of the S&P 500 individual stocks with it and go up on some of the better large caps I am already holding.
