On what basis are your parents planing to immigrate to the US?

Your post suggests that you know very little about the process.

I would recommend that you check out the WIKI section here which lists
all the various visas, and then research the one(s) that you think you
might qualify for at the USCIS website.

Where did he mention parents? He just said "family" - maybe he's
married with a child, and hopes to get an H1B for himself, and
H4's for them.
