Oy... the post said "train" and I read "plane". Peter - forget what I
said about a round-trip ticket. He can get a one-way ticket to the US
for the train and all he should need is his passport as Rete says.

Canadians, Bermudians and those with U.S. tourist visas can legally
arrive in the U.S. by air on a one way ticket. Those using the visa
waiver scheme cannot.
