The Canadians turned us down. What about the USA??


Hi Everyone

The Canadians have turned us down on the grounds of excessive demand
because our daughter is undergoing growth hormone therapy , even though
her treatment is due to be completed early in 2008 at the latest, and we
stated we would not land in Canada until her treatment is finished.

We know nearly everything we need to know about the Canadian immigration
system, but nothing about moving to the USA.

We are now thinking about moving to the USA and would welcome your
advice on the USA immigration system, application processing times,
procedures etc

Is the system based upon a points basis, qualifications, age, job
suitability etc?

I have heard that the green card lottery system excludes people from the
UK, is this still the case?

If it helps to answer any questions I am aged 48, my wife is 40 and our
daughter is 14. I am a UK qualified financial adviser and my wife is
employed in school catering. We would be able to bring in
approximately £280,000 equity and I receive a guaranteed pension of a
£8,000 per annum.

Someone mentioned that if you buy 3 properties or more, this boosts your
chances of receiving a visa. Is this correct?

Before anyone shoots me down in flames, I do intend to look up past
threads on USA immigration, but would like the basic low down as to
whether we have a chance of moving to the USA instead of Canada
beforehand

Any advice would be appreciated.
