Not if he wants to be paid in the next 14 months. His chances? Who
knows? Depends on his qualifications, the job you're planning on giving
him, etc...
I'd also recommend the lawyer. Your time is more valuable than this.
Find a good one - there are quite a few who know nothing. For now, you
could probably do a one-time consultation with a lawyer for fairly cheap
that would give you the basics of what you need to know for this
specific case, as well as your chances of making it work. But if the
lawyer is overly positive, find another one.
