I have tried several artificial sweeteners, but have been dissatisfiedI haven't tried it but did a web search for it.
with their aftertaste until I came across erythritol which was mentioned
in the Norwegian diabetes journal. It is a sugar alcohol which is
naturally present in small quantities in several foodstuffs. I was very
happy with its taste, but after some weeks I experienced a slight
headache as a result of using it. Have any of you had the same
experience? I searched the net and came across the following paper that
may or may not be relevant in this respect:

This site contains a rather thorough description, but seems to come from
someone who sells it, which causes suspicion about how accurate it is:

Another description, also apparantly from someone who sells it:

More, this time from people who apparantly don't offer to
sell it:

causing my almost daily headaches, it seems that someone is always
allergic to something. If the food/product doesn't cause the headache,
then it's the preservatives or colouring or flavouring. Even the humble
nuts are not excluded. I am finding that more and more things - some of
which I like - trigger off headaches. My daughter, whose often severe
migraines are something she inherited from me, was at one stage put on
some "trigger elimination diet" which excluded almost every food. At one
stage I suspected the Lipitor I was taking. I quit 'cold turkey' - lo and
behold, the headaches disappeared, and I thought GREAT - This was
It........ It was - for three weeks - then the headaches came back. I
still don't know what's responsible.
Also, as you mentioned, there's "vested interests" ranging from the
product manufacturers proclaiming that their product is absolutely safe
(and_we_believe_them), to the crackpots who maintain it's responsible for
all ills known to mankind. It's hard to make a rationed assessment. I'm
not specifically referring to erythritol, but rather generalising.
Henry Mydlarz.
you have such a headache and when you don't. A significant difference
might suggest a cause, but might just be an effect of the headache.
