It's not different. Most pumpers seem to estimate how much insulin they'll
use in 3 days and fill their cartridge/reservoir with that amount. I can't
be bothered to guess and I hate tossing perfectly good insulin. So I just
fill & keep going until it's empty. My reservoir is plastic and I've had
problems using it for 2 weeks, even in hot weather.
I think if I tried your method I would end up accidentally injecting the
entire syring of insulin into myself. I had tried preloading syringes in
the past and couldn't do it. I'm also not very coordinated.
