Doctors don't get paid, or well paid, for time spent

out as possible in a day's work, and for procedures or tests.

This is absolutely untrue and nothing more than hateful bitter
conspiracy thinking. Like any profession, doctors get paid for
services they provide. In this case it is to diagnose and treat
patients, which involves their years of training, listening, and yes
even thinking.:) Seeing as many patients as possible is part of their
job because there is a great need for their services. A patient can
help by being proactive, compliant, and coming in prepared by writing
down specific questions that they feel need answering. You can reach
them by phone during office hours, usually through their office nurse,
with other questions you may have. Doctors also are available for
emergencies...how many other occupations can you reach 24/7?

There are always a few bad apples in any profession. But to paint
them all as greedy know nothings is just plain wrong.
