Hi everyone. I am type 2 diabetic for approximately the past 15
months. I have been taking 500 mg metformin x 2, and recently, my
doctor prescribed lisinopril, an ace inhibitor for my blood pressure.
He mentioned the affects of protecting kidneys with this medication. I
currently have no kidney disease, but I was curious about that added
benefit. Do meds of this type offer long term kidney protection?
Thanks!

Bryan,
This is an excellent book related to kidney disease. Doctor Walser discusses
the various medications to treat blood pressure and their effects upon the
kidneys in his book. You may want to google Ace Inhibitor to learn about the
side effects or request a print-out from the pharmacist when you pick up the
medication.
