Soaring on Humility

One of the characteristics of my inner Fat Man is his enormous pride. Some
examples:
He has incredible chutzpah when choosing to eat fattening foods in large
portions despite medical evidence that obesity is unhealthy. He gives the
finger to the medical establishment.
He hides his fat behind clever color schemes and extra large clothing that
make his large frame appear to shrink. He 's quite vain. He's always
checking himself in mirrors foolishly hoping that the weight has magically
disappeared..
He thinks dieting is a bunch of BS and is hostile to exercise. He's quite
closed off to new ideas.
---------
I've had a lot of advice not to "beat up" on my inner Fat man, but I've
found that the best way to deal with this adolescent scofflaw is to cut him
down several pegs.
The result is a "humbling" that has paid enormous dividends.
I can almost cry when I realize that I've had to do exactly what I didn't
want to do to achieve the soaring humility that brings me great relief and
pleasure.
