I was afraid somebody/you would ask that! :-)

But no, it's not a typo. That (0.0-4.9) lab-normal range was used by
'my' lab from (at least) 22APR2002 through (at least) 25JUL2005. I
always considered the 0.0 low end quite silly, because I would imagine
that at 0.0, i.e. still within range, one would be quite dead, so one's
[Hb]A1c wouldn't be particularly interesting! :-)

My last (31OCT2005) lab-normal range (for the *same* lab) was
specified as 4.0-6.0. I found it rather suspect that the upper limit
would go *up* and by that *much*. Because my [Hb]A1c only went up
slightly (from 5.0 to 5.1), I decided not to care/worry and just wait to
see which lab-normal range would be on my next report. AFAIK, all
reports are computer-generated (i.e. not typed by hand), so I would
think an error in the *range* to be unlikely. Maybe if I can't control
myself, I'll call the lab and ask them. :-)

Anyway: Lab-normal range is 4.0-6.0 and my [Hb]A1c is 5.1, so I'm
cured! Happy dance! [1]
