Dear Nicky,
I see from the misc.health.diabetes newsgroup that you sent me a message
one and a half hours ago, but I have not received the email notification
in my inbox.
I did read your web links this morning and I agree with your suggestion
that I should buy my own lancets and test strips. The doctor has
advised me to stop taking chromium polynicotinate. I had already
stopped when a further blood test was required, because I was concerned
that the food supplement may have affected the blood test results. The
latest blood test shows that my white blood cells are now OK, but that
my platelet count has gone down more than before. The doctor and I
discussed the matter of falling asleep after meals and the doctor has
agreed that I may test for the blood glucose level when I feel
"strange", rather than give permission to check regularly, say 2 hours
after eating. The trouble is that I nod off without feeling "strange",
and when I am asleep I cannot check the blood glucose level. I intend
to purchase another meter, so that I can download a separate set of post
meal results into a new 'DEX' data file on the same software. I use a
2004 version Bayer Ascensia Contour blood glucose meter, which requires
a small sample of 0.6 micro litres. The meter takes Microfill test
strips, which use capillary action to absorb a drop of blood.
Yours sincerely,
Wilde.
