Does Medicare have an allowance for diabetic shoes under the plan?

Yes.

(I think they have a cap though. They might only pay ~U.S. $90. .
..check it out before you buy)

However, be careful. Not only do you need a prescription from a doctor,
the person/organization who sells you the shoes must also be legally
qualified to "fill the prescription". Not all shoe stores can do this.

My city (40,000 people/ county seat/ regional medical center) has only 2
legally qualified shoe stores.

Sounds like a bunch of bureaucratic nonsense but the foot/shoe lectures at
our Diabetic Support Group meetings have impressed me. You really do need
a trained person to fit the shoes.
