Re: Reversing Diabetes

Kam,
>From a biochemical/hormonal perspective, there are what I'm calling the
5 "live" or super foods and the 5 "dead" foods.

The 5 "dead" foods include refined flour & sugar foods (rice, potatoes,
bread, macaroni, wheat products, sweets), saturated fats (cow's milk,
cow's cheese, most conventional animal meat), trans fat/hydrogenated oil
(processed foods, fried foods, store-bought baked goods, lunch meats,
stick margarine), and drugs (alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, OTC drugs,
prescription drugs, recreational drugs).
Key point: The "dead" foods (esp. the refined carbs) either cause blood
glucose levels to increase leading to weight gain or they inhibit the
body from burning fat leading to more fat storage!

The 5 "live" super foods include pure water; green, leafy vegetables,
other bright-colored vegetables; some fruits (lemons, berries, avoid
tropical fruits); monounsaturated/Omega-3 fats (extra virgin olive oil,
flaxseed, wild salmon, other fatty fish); lean protein (fish, beans,
legumes, nuts & seeds); and some (organic) whole grains (e.g. spelt,
oat, barley; but, not wheat).
Key point: The "live" foods trigger the body's natural internal healing
mechanisms to prevent, fight or reverse disease.

I hope this is of some help. When I get more time, I will expand the
info on my website and blogsite, but my publisher is pressing me to
finish the manuscript and complete my medical research.
