One thing Carole doesn't have is an insensitivity to the plight of
parents of children who have been diagnosed with autism, the bulk
of whom you smugly characterize as "not knowing how to read
research articles."

What did I say about knowing how to read research articles being an
acquired skill in my previous post? There's nothing smug about it,
that
is all in your mind.

Having the ability to comprehend scientific research articles is not
a 100% acquired skill.

Some level of aptitude in science and math is required.

Um, there is just one tiny problem with that: my background and
education is not in science, but in humanities.

Your background in humanities doesn't rule out an innate ability for
science and math.

I'm practically dyscalculic as regards math. I can deal with it, but it
takes me a lot of time and effort. About the only part of maths I can
deal easily with is statistics.

Clawswoman, this is no time to be modest.

Nevertheless, once learned, the skill of how to read a research paper
is applicable to any field, though you will need to learn the
terminology in use for each field.

Yes, I agree, you are very talented.

I have some skills, that is true.

You have more skills than you know.

And hard working, too.

Not any more, I've retired for health reasons.

Well, you deserve a good retirement now.

BTW, I forgot to mention that I would not be none too sure about
Carole not having the insensitivity to the plight of parents of
autistic children, since she is on record for blaming the victim and
has been called out on it. The cite is available, if need be.

Reproduce the quote, in complete context, with a link to the post in
Google.

"That's it, no more responding to kaye. I've killfiled her as I can't be
bothered with her simplistic and biased responses.
She sucked me into thinking she was unbiased.
Its probably her MO to suck people in then play the victim ie, no
responsibility for her actions.
She certain has no responsibility for her health as all her health
issues (whatever they are, I don't know and don't want to know) are
"genetic" thus excusing her of any responsibility in their development
through faulty living/ diet or whatever."

Well, Kaye upset her in a manner akin to violating a trust. The upset
provoked Carole into saying something she really didn't mean.

No I didn't violate a trust. I am interested in alternative health.
I'm not obligated to buy into Carole's fake cellsalt ideas though.
Not agreeing with her is not a violation of trust.

Aptitude testing has traditionally been used in educational guidance
counseling for selecting a career path.

I never went through that myself.

Congrats.

Good thing FDR asked Congress to approve Lend-Lease, too.

However, willing refusal to learn that skill in order to hang on to
preconceived ideas is something very different.

It is likely that Carole may tried to learn science many times, but
lacking the aptitude, failed, and having failed, lost interest.

Without testing Carole for aptitudes, there's no way to know for
sure.

Characterizing her as unwilling does not tell the whole story.

Would you like me to cite Carole herself on what she's been saying
about science? I certainly can.

I'm familiar with her quotes in that regard.
The problem is that they are of little probative value in determining
what her whole story is. She's agitated in the context of this ng
because she's continually attacked, and as such, likely exaggerates
her real attitudes.

I have seen her say the same things over and over for about as long as
she has been posting to this group, thanks to Google archive. Based on
that, I think she had those attitudes before she ever appeared here.

Well, I respectfully disagree.

The poor woman has been abused and she continues to struggle with that
valiantly on this ng. She says things she really doesn't mean because
she's provoked into doing so.

No question Carole should take a rest.

Merry Christmas, Kaye.

Merry Christmas.
