My comments and then the abstract as support.
One of the concerns I have with flu shot is that
the immunity, it provides doesn't last for a lifetime
rather something on the order of season or so. This leads
me to suspect that wider and deeper use of the vaccine especially
among the young that will yield a population that
is more subject to flu if it fails to get its yearly jab
and as it ages. Plus the cohort will become subject
to circulating flues not covered by the current jab as they
cover only about 3 or 4 strains at time. And after a lifetime
of jabs this currently younger cohort may drop like flies
when they reach the age that their immune response
declines to the jab/flu shot in that they lack
a long immunities to the various strain that could have
served to prime their immune response to fight current infections

Repeated influenza vaccination of healthy children and adults: borrow
now, pay later?
A growing number of publications are recommending annual influenza
vaccination of healthy children and adults. However, the long-term
consequences of repeated influenza vaccination are unknown. We used a
simple model of recurrent influenza infection to assess the likely
impact of various repeated influenza vaccination scenarios. The model
was based on a Markovian framework and was fitted on annual incidence
rates of influenza infection by age. We found that natural influenza
infection reduced the risk of being re-infected by 15.4% (95%
confidence interval 7.1-23.0). Various scenarios of repeated influenza
vaccination were then simulated and compared with a reference scenario
where vaccination is given from age 65 years onwards. We show that
repeated vaccination at a young age substantially increases the risk
of influenza in older age, by a factor ranging between 1.2
(vaccination after 50 years) to 2.4 (vaccination from birth). These
findings have important implications for influenza vaccination
policies.
My comments again:
So it seems you people who beat drum for nearly universal vaccination
against the flu maybe targeting the grandkids for great odds of an
early death at age 65 from the influenza.
Buy now and pay later indeed.................Trig
Wearing off of immunity is another reason for persisting with vaccines even
when the diseases have been eliminated in most geagraphical areas --the herd
immunity will protect those at risk.
Herd immunity! Intriguing - just like the genus epidemicus of the
Homeopaths?
http://www.genusepidemicus.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=82&Itemid=107
Very first line:
"Homeopathy has historically had great success in the treatment and
prophylaxis of epidemic diseases"
No it hasn't, they're making shit up. Oh, do they mean that one time
in London? Where a homeopath accidentely discovered it was
contaminated water that made people sick, contrary to the homeopathic
notion of miasms? Funny how homeopaths seem to be so disconnected from
reality that they call things that totally go against the laws and
rules of homeopathy evidence that homeopathy works.
And after reading a few more sentences, it's clear this has zero to do
with herd immunity. Jimbo, have you looked up what herd immunity
actually is?
And if I read it correctly, they take symptoms that are unique, i.e.
not shared between patients, group those symptoms and treat everybode
as if they had those symptoms, while they choose those symptoms
specifically because everybody did NOT have those symptoms. So
basically, they are treating people for symptoms they do not have.
Jim, why do you take these people serious?
And I can't access the entire site, but are these people claiming they
can cure AIDS with homeopathy by any chance?
(No, I have no connection with them but I do find their project of
interest).
I do too, I wonder if they're breaking any laws (apart from the Laws
of Homeopathy that is).
