What a rational person can't do is say that because someone is
capital-E Evil, every single thing that s/he does is necessarily
nefarious.  That's just ludicrous.

But now that reread this, your concluding paragraph
contradicts the preceeding one.    True, not NECESSARILY nefarious
but, as you say - all the more dangerous due to the greed.

"Bad people are in favor of X" isn't an argument against X,
unless you're prepared to accept it in the case of dogs,
children, and vegetables.
