My point exactly, David. Go back and see what you wrote to Yuri that
started my lesson in good manners in the first place. I picked an
article
from the NEWS for a reason. You know how the media gives us the
information
they want us to assume is correct---kind of the same thing that
happens here on a regular basis.
My point is that if ALL of us were a little kinder to the poster---and
showed a nice display of
manners to everyone, that it would indeed be a nicer place, right?
Kind of like, respond to
the content of post, and not direct it at the poster.
I don't take everything i read here (pro and con) as if it were the
absolute gospel truth. I do
read here, like for example, about vaccines; I'm not positive based on
the information that the
media presents, the medical studies present, and posters themselves
present that the mercury
content in vaccines hasn't caused problems in children, or adults over
the years. I couldn't possibly
make a decision based on the information contained here nor would I
want to. But I can take the
information as presented and talk to my doctor about it, and see what
he feels about it. In fact, I did,
take the information about the flu vaccine, and as a result I didn't
get a flu shot based on his decision
about the entire matter and my health care concerns.
I applaud your decision and hope it extends to anti-biotics, chemo &
radiation therapy, the heimlech manuever, and all forms of surgery.
Let's see if the rest of your ilk has the guts to live up to their
anti-medicine dogma the way you (claim to) do.
But bashing in a
poster, about what they happen to
believe, isn't good manners, is it not? Just like the apparent
"support" group that public figure Stephen
Barrett has that post regularly to this newsgroup --the harder they
post against certain alternative therapies,
and attack the posters that believe in such therapies, the more apt I
am to believe that it is possible that
those therapies could possibly work. It amazes me that many of those
diagnoses that were listed as "fad" on his
website, are the same diagnoses that some of the posters here work
hard at trashing; not only the posters that
enjoy those therapies, but the doctors who support those kinds of
therapies. It is really quite simple, David. Do not
attack the poster; disagree with what they have to say, without using
vulgarity, and vile language. If you do not agree with someone;
disagree with the subject matter, and not the poster. I think if
everyone resorted to being respectful of other posters thoughts and
ideas, this newsgroup would soon lose the bad rap it has had for
years.
