A question about Stevia

A couple evenings ago, my son and I visited a Whole Foods store. My
son had been telling me about a sugar substitute that is actually an
herbal derivative, called Stevia.

What can any of you tell me about this product? I purchased what is
labeled as Stevia Extract, which is packaged in little packets. But,
I saw it available in liquid, and in small cannisters of powder.

Have any of you tried cooking with it?
