Barrett's case stunk to high heaven, so he's now saddled with $400,000
in damages.
I doubt it. Bolen/Negrete/Ilena Rosenthal would have been gloating
intolerably if that was the case. Nevertheless, can you direct me to
the
court judgement awardiung these damages?
No response?
If you want to see Barrett's fraudulency in writing one need go no
further than Barret's own writings. He edited two editions of a book
entitled "The Health Robbers." They were published about 10 years
apart. Each chapter has a separate author.
In fact, Barrett features the many different authors in the front of
the book. The idea is to make the book look credible, because there
are so many experts sounding in on the topic.
There is a chapter entitled "The Cruellest Killers" in both editions
of "The Health Robbers."
Except for a couple of paragraphs, the two chapters from the two
different editions are almost word-for-word identical.
In the first edition, "The Cruellest Killers" is attributed to two
authors. In the second edition, the chapter is attributed to two
DIFFERENT authors than the first edition.
In other words, the second set of authors didn't write the chapter.
The writing is quite similar to a lot of Barrett's own writing. Rather
than there being a bunch of experts who wrote various chapters to the
two books, we've got Barrett making false claims to the authorship,
changing the names as it suits him.
Padding his resume, so to speak, to make his book look real and
authoritative when it really was nothing of the kind. A false
front...a sham...a bogus slapdash.
I doubt that too..
As you're about to see, your doubt ain't worth a good crap.
And have you actually read these old books?
Yes, I've read both 'books.' That's how I made the discovery regarding
Barrett's fraudulent sham!
If so,
you will have noted that the information was well-documented and nearly
all
now proved correct by later scientific study.
There isn't a scintilla of documentation in the chapters I referred to
above.
I doubt that too. Barrett is normally obsessive about documenting any
claims.
We do know for a fact that two sets of co-authors didn't write almost
identical chapters. It's highly unlikely that any of the four wrote a
word...as the writing style matches Barrett's.
That may merely mean Barrett exercising editorial rights for clarity of
expression, but I don't have the book in front of me to comment further.
There is no doubt that the public was and is mercilessly ripped off by
the
vitamin/herb pushers, with likely detriment to their health.
You've got that completely backwards. For instance, in most years the
CDC reports that vitamins and minerals have caused ZERO deaths. In
sharp contrast, drugs kill hundreds of thousands of people each and
every year.
No one said that supplements were poisoning people off. They are
generally safe, and they perhaps could be required to be even safer, as,
unlike most pharmaceuticals, they are over-the-counter preparations taken
unsupervised by people with varying intelligence and education and under
great pressure to overconsume (as is claimed is happening with some drugs)..
The "detriment to their health" obviously refers to now quite numerous
studies suggesting that dietary intake of vitamins is correlated with good
health outcomes, but supplementation is not. This is probably partly
because people swallow the supplement pushers' line that they can smoke,
skip meals, eat an otherwise poor diet, and live like slobs, but all they
needed to do for a long and healthy life was to take their vitamins. The
public is STILL being told that cardiovascular diseases, major killers, are
a vitamin C deficiency. That false belief is not going to encourage
healthy cardiovascular behaviour.
PM
On present
knowledge those who invested their faith in "supplements" would have
enjoyed
better health by concentrating on exercise, reducing risky behaviours
such
as smoking, and a better diet. Those with a finger in the supplement
pie
even went so far as to suggest that supplementation could make up for
unhealthy behaviour in these respects. .
You will also have noted that the instances where vitamin supplementation
may have some legitimacy, such as Vitamin D in certain populations, were
not even those being promoted by the multi-million doallar enterprises
that
produce alternative products. Everyone knows to distrust the
pharamaceutical companies but Barrett was almost alone in warning people
that the supplement pushers were even less worthy of trust, being under
negligible regulatory control and none of the other forms of public
scrutiny
that drug companies endure. . .
As the latest series of highly embarrassing losses endured by Barrett
help to demonstrate, the guy is a stethescope short of a medical
license. Judges keep determining that the guy is an unreliable dope.
PM
The best the poor clown could do was to get Ann Landers to write the
foreword to his book. Now there is a real expert!
In contrast, the forward to my book was written by a board certified
radiation oncologist. And not just any radiation oncologist, but one
who headed the largest private radiation oncology clinic in the United
States.
