Dental cleaning and resulting infection?

Early this morning I had my teeth cleaned at the dentist's office.
About three hours later, my in the place where the lower sinus and the
throat meet, I've been experiencing itching, congestion, and what feels
like some sort of 'bug' trying to take hold.
Maybe with the bleeding that occurs from the metal probe poking the
gums I'm getting sick. I dunno, but it sure seems like that's what
brought it on.
I googled it, and there does seem to be some connection...maybe. Some
dentists also note that not getting your teeth cleaned can contribute
to the same kind of thing...so it looks like a Catch 22.
Has anyone else noticed getting a sore throat or tonsils or whatever
right after getting your teeth cleaned?
.
