I attended 11 funerals and sat Shiva with friends after 9/11.

You can read about the individual victims here:

http://www.newsday.com/news/local/newyork/ny-victimsdatabase,0,2976041.framedurl?coll=ny-top-headlines

Pick some at random and read about them.

My son's little league coach, the son of the principal of our Hebrew
school, a neighbor with four children....are among them.

I'm very sorry for your losses. I can't imagine how you feel.

My sister, Kris, was a surviving victim of the suicide truck bomb
attack on the UN office in Iraq. She was talking to her boss when the
bomb went off. He was blown into her and knocked her over. I don't
know, how badly he was injured, and have not asked my sister because I
don't know how she might be impacted by it.

My sister was knocked unconscious and is still affected by agorophobia
from Post Traumatic Stress.

She saw one person trying to put another person's jaw back on.

The people responsible for these mass murders can't be reasoned with.
Today is a good day to strengthen our resolve to take the offense
against this evil movement that considers America to be Satan.

At the time of that attack, I was working in Hoboken at St. Mary's
Hospital on a travel assignment. To save money on the housing allowance,
I was living with at my cousin's house in western NJ, and commuting to
Hoboken by train, first on NJ Transit from Princeton to Newark, then
transferring to PATH to the station directly under the World Trade
Center, then taking another PATH train back to Hoboken. It was a very
minor victimization for me to have to take a taxi from Newark to work
that day, but it made me VERY aware of the potential for terrorism within
the U.S. I also have a friend who was on the Achille Lauro cruise that
was hijacked. She still has nightmares about it all these years later.
Terrorism victimizes the innocent, and is inexcusable, regardless of the
intended political cause in which it is enacted.

Was that your wife?

That said, "taking the offense against the evil movement" does not
include waging an illegal war against a nation who were NOT engaged in
international terrorism and were NEVER a threat of any kind to the
American homeland.

9/11 was most defintely a treat the ALL of America.

Yes, it was, and it damaged all of America. But Saddam Hussein and Iraq had
NOTHING to do with the attacks of 9/11. And the war on Iraq cannot be
equated with a "war on terror" no matter how many times GWB tries to label
it as such. It's actually a diversion of resources that could be put toward
the real conflict with the terrorists who would do us harm. But perhaps not
really. The real war on terror cannot be fought with soldiers and marines,
with aircraft and missiles and bombs. The recent thwarted attack on
U.S.-bound passenger flights from England were not stopped by military
action, but by good, effective police work, and that's where our resources
could best be put. Instead of thumbing our noses at the nations of the world
and demonstrating our bully power, we shoud be fostering a spirit of
cooperation, especially between the various world police forces.
