When you were discussing Revici with Peter Moran I thought you'd be an
interesting example of how people can mislead themselves into believing
things that aren't so. Now I have to change my mind - you're bonkers.
Which is a shame really. People who are honestly mistaken are much
better illustration of what can go wrong in the world of alternative
medicine than people who are just loopy as a fruitbat.
You're another example of someone who decides for himself what the
answer is before examining the evidence.
There's a microscope that can see living viruses. The manufacturer has
a video that shows the living viruss do what they do...including
combining with compounds that transform them into bacteria.
Apart from the optical difficulties, viruses have now been cultivated and
their infections observed in fine detail for over half a century without
them ever acquiring all the additional DNA, enzymes, structural materials
and the rest needed to transform them into bacteria. Nor has this ever
been observed in native infections. Nor have transitional forms ever been
seen under the electron microscope. Viruses can infect and perhaps
parasitise bacteria, but they *cannot* transform into them.
Phase contrast microscopes are extremely prone to artefact with small
adjustements of focus and lighting, and this would not be the first time
that optical companies have practiced their own versions of quackery, in the
hope of expanding their market into alternative medicine, where all levels
of gullibility can be found.
I can't be bothered downloading a player to see this video, but can imagine
what it shows from similar material I have seen.
Yes, I am a bit of an expert on viruses, having acquired my BSc(Med) degree
through research into them.
