An unfortunate consequence of surgery is suppression of vital NK cell
activity, which makes patients more susceptible to development of
metastatic lesions. In the animal model, surgery-induced immune
suppression has been linked to tumor metastasis to the lung (Page et
al. 1994 a ; 1994b; Ben-Eliyahu et al. 1999). Human studies demonstrate
that those with low NK cell activity have an increased risk of
metastatic lesions (Levy et al. 1985; Schantz et al. 1987; Tartter et
al. 1987; Fujisawa et al. 1997; Koda et al. 1997). The plus side is
that use of anti-angiogenesis drugs can reduce the negative side
effects of surgery, and in those patients for whom prognosis is
otherwise poor, this may be their best option.

Ooooh, look everyone, PeterB can cut-n-paste!

Yup. Yet again, PeteyB is guilty of plagiarism. Something he inevitably
turns to when his is out of his depth, since he's demonstrated before
that he doesn't know the meaning of what he's plagiarised. Unattributed
as usual, most of this is available from here:

Good catch, Cathy. Petey did try to change a few words, either in the
mistaken belief that doing so magically confers ownership to him, or, more
likely, in an attempt to prevent finding of his source. Looks like PeterB,
like Jan, is a liar and a thief.

The "material" you are talking about (not the studies, obviously) is
purely referential. I provided the researchers' names for the studies
noted, as is appropriate. If you had asked for a link to more
information, I would gladly have provided the link to LEF (a reputable
publisher of natural medicine research), for additional discussion.
The fact I rephrased part of the adjunctive comments (embedded between
the references) is just evidence that I'm not a lazy bum like you.
