It would appear that I'm jumping in mid-stream here, so I won't take
any sides. I'd just like to give my own experience.
I've known several caner victims in my short time on this earth.
Unfortunately, it hasn't been until the last 6 years that I've been
able to give any advice about it. Of all the cancer victims I know
that took chemo and radiation, none of them are alive today. That's in
stark contrast to the one person so far that has listened to me about
nutrition as it pertains to cancer.
An 87 year old gentleman, knowing that I'm interested in nutrition and
it's effects on the body, came to me saying that he had been diagnosed
with advanced prostate cancer. He even had a second opinion to make
sure. Both doctors said his prostate was "as hard as a rock" and that
at his age, the only thing they could do was give him a drug for the
pain and send him home to die. He asked me what he should do. I told
him that he needed to identify what was causing the cancer to begin
with. I made several suggestions on dietary changes and a supplement
regimen. 6 months later his prostate had a clean bill of health. No
chemo. No radiation. Just eating good quality foods and, more
importantly, avoiding the foods that caused the cancer in the first
place.
I realize that's just one case and so has no scientific weight, but the
point is, nutrition should of the patient should be scrutinized first.
I have no doubt that chemo has its place... but it should be the LAST
option considered, not the first as is most often the case.
Just my $0.02.
Max.
