I have a pain the upper left portion of my chest, it's a sharp pain
that is felt most when I breathe in. It also hurts when I am laying
on
either of my sides but not does hurt if I simply push on my chest
area.
It's definetly a sharp pain on the opposite side of my heart, has
been
hurting for the last three days. Feels almost like it is in my lung,
anyone have any clue what this could be and if I should be concerned?
Now, I'm going out on a limb here, but my guess is your family doctor
would be able to tell you more. And he could actually examine you and
such.
Now a question for you: if your car is making funny noises, who do you
consult? Any random bloke on a newsgroup, who may not have a clue
about cars, or a trained mechanic?
Problem
Define trained and where, same with Doctors.
Puhleaze Vernon, get a life.
The mentally blind and sleep walkers think their car is being properly
fixed just because they take it to a "qualified" mechanic.
So you would take your car where? DIY? Ok if it's your car, not so good
if it's something just a little more complicated, which your body is.
Most mechanics are more intelligent that doctors.
Bull***. It's true that rebuilding an engine is as complex as open heart
surgery, but the mechanic doesn't have to perform the operation with the
engine still running.
(Note to the less educated such as yourself, less intelligent does not
mean less schooled)
An idiot goes back to the same mechanic that didn't solve the problem the
first one, two, three times. Same with Doctors. Doctors don't give your
money back or do the second pass for free.
Same with Doctors.
I have a life and have been awake most of it.
Now if you had any knowledge you would have seen that he said left side
and opposite side of heart. DUUUHHH.
One or both of you are in LA LA land.
Yes mr. Ignoramus, I noticed that. And chances of him having his organs
mirrored are of course slim.
But I am not going to make any diagnosis based on a newsgroup posting and
any complaint that persists, specially in the chest area, should be
checked out by someone qualified to do so, in this case the family doctor
is appropriate.
Chest pains that are dependent on motion is never heart. It can be
dangerous though.
Never? I wish it were that easy to rule out a cardiac event. It's true that
chest pain that is reproducable is less alarming, but it still warrants a
full cardiac work-up, and no doctor is going to offer less based on a
patient's report that "It hurts when I move." An EKG, a chest X-ray, and a
battery of blood tests including a complete blood count, a comprehensive
medical panel, a prothrombin time, a partial thromboplastin time, troponin
level, creatinine kinase and its 'MB' isoenzyme will all need to be done
before it's indicated that the source of the pain is other than the heart.
If the clinical picture, family history, and other risk factors indicate
significant cardiac risk, the doc is probably going to want to admit the
patient for repeat labs at eight and sixteen hours out. The left-right locus
of the pain is irrelavant, too. Myocardial infarction (heart attack) or
angina can present as pain in any part of the chest, in either arm, in the
jaw, or in the back, particularly under the scapulae.
