I just wish that the ONLY problem was the degenerated lumbar.
The scoliosis causing the pelvic tilt (that might not be able to be
corrected at my age) seems to be the biggest problem It just throws
everything out of balance...
That's the big thing is trying to work around that.

you should get the book and read it. I might order the DVD as well.
While the book does not offer any simple and general prescriptions,
since the author says every case must be evaluated, the big three
exercises he recommends as a foundation are the curlup, birddog and
side bridge. If your objective is to strengthen the muscles
surrounding your lower spine, going right back into deadlifts will
probably be counterproductive.
My memory of McGill on the side bridge is that he uses it as more of a
test than an exercise for improving your strength and/or stability.
I'll try to reread tomorrow, assuming I can find _my_ copy <sigh>.
