Actually Steve, if compared your overhead press numbers to your weight
I
think that you would find that you actually have pretty extraordinary
upper body strength compared to your body weight. I might be able to
press more than you, but I also weigh 33% more than you do and my arms
are probably substantially longer as well. What's more, I can
guarantee
you that my power to bodyweight ratio is more the norm than yours when
it comes to random folks on the Internet.

Which was basically my point. As a shoulder exercise for random
USENET
people the one-armed pushup isn't likely to be a good choice.

This was directed at Tom and you, not at the original poster. We're
pretty deep into this thread, but for the OP, any sort of pushup is
fine.

I can only imagine how much fun I am likely to have tricking people
into
attempting one-armed pushups. Doing them against a wall even
guarantees
that they'll hit their head--probably with a fair amount of force.

I think that basically guarantees that I will be spending a certain
amount of time learning how to do one-armed pushups.

I knew there was something I liked about you, Jason. :)

That's the advantage of free weight exercises, IMHO. You can always
use
a lighter weight.
