I can't believe that you need all that. Crutches are just that,
crutches. If you start relying on them, you will not recover. I know,
old age and all, but it looks like a bit of an excess to me. I admit
that I started using straps recently, but I plan on stopping as soon as
I can. I'm only 37, though.

I think straps are a good idea. They take a lot of the forearm involvement
out so you can focus all your energy on the back muscles you are trying to
target.
My thumps are so bad I can't hold a bar or dumbbell reversed (down). The
pain is bad that I can't use my hand for hours after. The wrap gives me
something to hold with my fingers.
