I'd really like to hear his take on the use of shotguns and the lack of response in kind by the police. I wonder if any Euro's are missing the days of breaking folks on the wheel and drawing and quartering.
I think pretty much everyone who looks at that violence has a powerful visceral response to shoot, hang, behead or otherwise violently dispose of the criminals behind it. Luckily, the people actually in charge of things are making decisions with their brains, not their innards, and, being aware that in this situation, meeting violence with violence just leads to more violence on the other side, are a calmer approach. Less satisfying, but more effective.
I miss Pete too.
