What are the permanent limits?
That has yet to be defined. I have to avoid movement that would either
push or pull the clavicle further posterior or it could compress or
rupture a few internal organs that I'd rather not (such as esophagus).
Ouch.
It will entail some trial with little error as possible.
I'd say so!
So you're looking for muscular endurance.
AND strength. I'll have to train for both, especially one-legged
drills (without torquing the pelvis).
The book you linked to looks interesting.
I'll be camping and off-road riding for three days this weekend with
some competitive motocross riders; will have a better idea of points
to focus on.
Thanks for the links.
Great.
<snip> I rode 1140 miles in 24 hours; <snip>
I've done about 960 miles in 20 hours. Pennsylvania to Florida, but
that was slabbing it courtesy of I-95. Otoh, there was a good bit of
construction going on at the time which slowed me down.
Mine was an unintentional and unofficial Iron *** ride west through
http://www.iron***.com/about/default.cfm
My near-thousand miler was just for fun. I was so excited about
getting my first Harley that I rode all the way to Georgia on my way
to Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach. I was going to stop over, but two
other riders said that if I rode all the way from Pennsylvania that,
heck, they could ride all the way to Daytona, too. Hell, I wanted to
sleep, but couldn't look the wuss in front of them and so continued on
to Florida. I'm not sure I was even aware of such a thing as the Iron
*** Association at that time. That was 1997.
Tennessee and east Texas. Being pissed off is a powerful motivator ;)
Now that I know I can do it, I plan on an official one next year, but
I think I'll head west next time.
Just shy of 1200 miles is incredible. And on what bike again? You said
your new baby is a dual sport, KLR250. I rode to Daytona on 1997 XLH
883 Sportster. My current bike is a 2001 XLH 883. I've never had a
dual sport or a sportbike, but they both look like a lot of fun.
