Moral of the story: no limits are permanent.
That I realize. I already proved the docs wrong regarding my back/
pelvis issues. However, adding the clavicle and shoulder injuries, the
prognosis of future training remains to be determined.
I would recommend grabbing a set of dumbbells, too. All of the local
sports stores are carrying this same all-in-one case of AFNA
dumbbells; 40lbs for $40, which includes 2 bars and screw-on collars.
You'll have to upgrade before long, but it's enough to get you started
for cheap.
I have already started push ups with legs on a Swiss ball and so far,
so good. I will be looking for a set of changeable dumbbells.
Craigslist first :)
I already have two pairs of bumper plates from before, and a few other
accessories. It's the benches and bar (and iron plates) that will take
some time to accumulate. I'm still not sure yet if I will be able to
squat: back or front squat. When I tried shortly after the fall, it
was a definite nadda. Even using the leg press pulls on the clavicle.
Amazing what bone-muscle groups are involved in a movement even far
removed from the targeted muscles/limbs. Until you've injured one.
Congratulations with your recovery and progress.
