I'll try to keep this short. Im 6 foot 2 inches.. 210 pounds.
About 18 months ago I started working out again. I was a weakling and could only work out with 40 pounds for 3 hours a day. (2 to 3 days a week)
Basically I would do standing curls.. 3 sets of 10 reps a day.
(I get confused with sets and reps...hopefully I said it right. )
then 3 sets of 10 a day...standing in same position as doing curls but lifting the bar over the head..instead of curling.
then 3 sets of 10 a day...standing in same position as above...and lifting over the head... but with palms facing outward instead of inward.
then 3 sets of 10 a day... of standing rows with knees bent.
after that I would take a 30 minute break and then start on 100 situps and pushups.
During my entire workout I would slowly consume about 50 grams of protein supplement/ powder throughout the workout... and then another 50 grams after the workout.
This routine worked very well for me for the last 15 months.. I started working with 40 pounds and am now working with 90 pounds.. But i've been stuck on 90 pounds for the last 3 months !! Its driving me nutty. This was my own technique I guess you could say ...and I never got any professional advice on weightlifting.. I just felt it was a good routine and worked great for me for awhile. But now im stuck.
I only work with a standard bars and weights.. I dont believe in all that fancy , expensive equipment.. Whenever I see all that stuff, it feels like work and a task...then I think about how much room it takes up in the house and how expensive it is.... So I dont bother with that stuff. Though im sure alot of you guys have that kind of equipment and love it. I would just like to stay basic.
The hardest place I feel stuck is with the standing curls.. I try to figure out what my weakness is when curling...and it feels like I need more muscle in my lower back. Not sure though.
I almost feel like quittin like a puszy because I cant move up in weight anymore. Its drivin me nuts. any advice would be much appreciated..
thx
John
