Whaddaya think of this one? It's called Total EFA. I've been taking it
for a few years now - they sell it at the local Whole Foods. 2 capsules
AM, 1 capsule PM, and think it's giving me indigestion. Curious to know
if the balance of EFA's is good, if there might be an all-vegetable
solution that might not give me indigestion. Taking all 3 in the
morning seems to help. From the label for one day's worth (3 capsules)
Alpha-Linolenic Acid [ALA] (omega-3) - 675 mg
Docosahexaenoic Acid [DHA] (omega-3) - 135 mg
Eicospentaenoic Acid [EPA] (omega-3) - 212 mg
Gamm-Linolenic Acid [GLA] (omega-3) - 270 mg
Linoleic Acid (omega-6) - 580 mg
Oleic Acid (omega-9) - 485 mg
Ingredients: Certified Organic Flax Seed oil, Borage seed oil, Fish oil,
gelatin, glycerin, water and mixed tocopherols.

time in 6 years.
I can't claim any expertise on EFAs, but I've been taking them as
supplements for a year or so. My strategy is based on the oft repeated
statement of professed experts that commonly consumed North American
foods give most of us WAY TOO MUCH Omega 6 and Omega 9.
So for me it follows that it makes no sense to take a supplement that
provides yet more Omega 6 and 9. What one should do is take
supplements that provide Omega 3 ONLY to rectify the shortfall, and
improve the balance among the three.
It also makes no sense to me to take Omega 3 supplements based on flax
seed, because (as a previous poster mentioned), their conversion into
the necessary long-chain acids is not a slam-dunk. Get the straight
EPA and DHA from fish oil.
I've been taking 2 grams of fish oil concentrate per day (from "
anchovy, sardine, mackerel"), claimed to contain 800mg EPA and 400mg
DHA. However, I recently came across a better buy on a 300/200 EPA/DHA
mix, and decided the difference wasn't worth worrying about. So I'll
be switching to 600/400 mg EPA/DHA per day (split between breakfast
and dinner).
