When the cardiothoracic surgeon about to do your triple bypass
informs you that he likes to combine medical science with voodoo,
let me know how fast you can get off the OR table and run screaming
down the hallway.

I found it comforting when the doctor participated in a blessing for
my wife when my youngest child was born. Personally, I find the idea
of a doctor that is humble enough to conclude that he may not be the
most intelligent being in the universe to be a very interesting
concept.

So, you'll be going to faith healers instead of medical doctors from
now on, right?

Let's just say I believe that even doctors can be inspired by a higher
power.

Nurses?

A very excellent point.

Oh...you want just a "bit" of irrationality with your science
based medical practice. No full blown
skip-the-medicine-bring-on-the-prayers stuff, huh? No live
chickens and sheep sacrifices?

It's only irrational if I am wrong :).

To you, I'm an atheist.

To God, I'm the loyal opposition.

There must be opposition in all things...

Personally, I believe that in the end beliefs matter far less than
actions. In the end the kind of person we are matters far more than
what we believe.

I happen to believe that I have a Heavenly Father that loves me. I
want to be the sort of son that He would want me to be. That's
basically just a lofty way of saying that I want to be the sort of
neighbor that raises the property values for everyone on the block.

I've noticed that lots of people seem to come to the same sort of
conclusion without sharing my beliefs. I don't have a problem with
that. My religion means a great deal to me, but I don't have a
problem with folks that believe differently, as long as they feel the
same way about being a good neighbor.

It's OK, Jason. Really. As long as you're not trying to blow up my
car, you can have whatever imaginary friend that you want.

If God asks me to blow up your car, I'll warn you first.

It's the civilized way. I was just FLOORED last week when I heard on
the news that Israel calls up the Palestinian terrorists in
Gaza...calls them ON THE PHONE!!!...and tells them to GET OUT, WE'RE
ABOUT TO BOMB YOUR HOUSE.

War is funny. In an unfunny sort of way.

You've got to admire the way the Jews go about waging war. That's a
classy group of people. It's pretty clear that they just want to be
left alone.

Courtney could have handled the role the Colonel did in this one easily, just a lot of standing around arguing with the Doctor and the one bit of action shooting the Sontarian at the end, which could have been done with a little more comic flair, but then they let the body count get so gruesome in this one they sort of murdered the possibility of lightheartedness. ...
