For the last 5 months I can no longer gain upperbody muscle. I am 17
1/2, 5'9 and 152 lbs. I eat about 160 grams of protein a day (have
been taking 3 whey protein skakes a day for 3 months, on top with a
plenty of meat and pretty healthy diet.) I have been taking 3 grams of
creatine a day for 2 months. I take vitamins, I take omega 3. I always
use heavy weights, I only do 3-8 reps on most everything I do. I
change my workout routine. I have listened to advice to eat excess
calories to gain fat and muscle, I brought my weight up to 148 to 152,
but all I did was get fatter. All the fat goes to my stomach, and it
makes me look like a guy that doesnt work out at all. I have even
listened to advice to avoid overtraining. Now I have to constantly
flex my stomach or I look like I have a beer belly.
I have been working out at least 8 hours a week for the past 8 months
and did less serious 2-3 hour a week working out for the last 2 years.
Workout consits of every exercise your mind could possibly
comprehend.(inculding bench)
About 6 months ago I added squats to my workout, my legs got bigger,
but upperbody stayed the same.
My results are pathetic. I am about to go insane. In the last 2 weeks
it looks like my chest actually shrank. If I was a normal person I
would look like a fitness model in a magazine.
Ab gains are especially pathetic. My abs are insanely strong, I have
noticed that they are stronger than 99% of people at the gym. I do
lots incline crunches with 2x40lb freeweights (using rotating motion
and strait curl) I use 20lb ankle weight and do leg lifts for lower
abs. ABS BARELY LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE EVER BEEN WORKED OUT BEFORE!
Whats so funny is that I am actually very strong for my weight, but
guys weaker than me have so much more muscle.
I have worked so hard, I am almost of the verge of a mental breakdown.
Is there something I am doing wrong!!!?
Your abs will not be seen unless you get the fat off of them. Getting the
fat off is 90% diet. How much fat do you take in? What about simple
sugars? IT may help if you post a sample diet for a typical week. This may
help. You also will see more gains in the next few years as you grow older
as your body will naturally be making more testosterone.
