Arnold S once said "You can't grown without the burn."
Yeah, but he was saying that repeatedly to ectomorphic Jeff Bridges, in
"Stay Hungry."
But, as i recall, he said; "You CAN grow with a burning!"
Either that or i am deaf.
How important
is the feeling of burn/fatique when lifting weight in your experience?
Oh. Great.
I have ENDLESS discussions about this with "experts" in my gym. Aim for hard
contractions, not fatique. A fatiqued muscle CANNOT contact hard. So, stop
doing the set, and/or exercise.
In my experience, it was easier to get the burn when working on smaller
body parts and that is when working on them ONLY WITH BODY WEIGHT with
no irons. They've responded well and quickly.
Eh... you did exercises for the smaller muscles with bodyweight? What
exercises?
Curls ort laterals with bodyweright? How?
I use to to one legged calf raises in the past, with the last set to
complete paralyzation. Not kidding. Pumped them up to 20 inches using that
method.
I have hard time generating the feel of burn with bigger body parts
such as pec and I am not satisfied with my pec development.
If you insist on getting a burn in your pecs, then do flyes with a flat
resistance curver, IOW, machine flyes, sincse they have resistance at the
top of the movement. Its easier to get a burn that way. Sometimes i do them
after low inclines/dips. Fantastic pump, great burn. But i end with
parttials on the last set. That hurts.
How important is this burn/fatigue in inducing muscular hypertrophy?
It can be important if your muscles are allready hypertrophied using the
classic method, heavy weights, low reps. With pump/burns, it seems that the
muscles are holding a bit more water/carbs. Glycogen. But you have to do
this at least twice a week, otherwise the effect wears off.
